Why Do We Love Richmond?

Richmond, The River City, RIC or RVA, it doesn't matter what you call it we know this city like no other!Richmond is full of History, Culture and Revalitization.

In the last 18 years the City has become home to business Headquarters with such top names as Suntrust Mortgage, BB&T, Mead WestVacoPhillip Morris/Altria and Tumblr. Many communities have seen a revalitization to their neighborhoods and many small businesses have been able to gain stride due to tax incentives from the City.

Are there things to do? Don't get us started! The City is full of events all year long, including endurance events such as the Sportsbackers Monument Ave 10K, the Suntrust Richmond Marathon, Capital City Bike Trail, and the newly added Dominion Riverrock Event that features everything from trail biking to Dog Endurance Competitions! Check out the Third Season of the Richmond Flying Squirrels.. it's sure to be a treat! Or, take a drive, better yet walk down the Boulevard, a main artery in Richmond and experience one of the 3 museums just on THAT street.

If Fashion is your thing.. you are in the right place! Our city has one of the best Fashion Programs on the East Coast at VCU.  Then, there is Richmond Fashion Week, which insiders refer to as RFW. 2012 is RFW's 4th year and it is sure to be larger than last years with a showcase of local and national fashion designers, local and national musicians and a slew of amazing local talent that bring the entire week to our doorstep!

If Music is what you are into, there is always an up and coming local band to see. Friday Cheers that begins on Brown's Island in May/June is always a great event for music and of course people watching! One of the best events, we are a bit bias.. is the Richmond Folk Festival, the city provides a magnificent backdrop while thousands come listen to music and even better.. it's FREE!

Interested in Independent Art? The First Friday Art Walks are always a great way to check out the local galleries and the freshest local talent. This event has gained growing popularity and the Historic Jackson Ward District with it's eclectic mix of old and new truly add to the atmosphere of the event. Bring your walking shoes and a flare for adventure, you may just run into some flame throwing artists.. true story.

Like to Eat? Well, you have chosen the right city. With tons of options from Meatloaf and Gravy at Comfort on Broad Street to Fish Tacos at Alamo in Church Hill..from Sushi at Sticky Rice in the Fan to Locally grown/organic beef burgers at Station 2 in Shockoe Valley, Richmond has what you want for dinner. And Brunch you say? The City is known for it's Brunch HOT SPOTS.. including.. Millies, The Empress and Starlight.. Be sure to check out the Movie and Mimosas at the Movieland Cinema beforehand to see a Classic and get your weekend started off right!
